C. Jill (Smith) Goodell - Jill Goodell focuses her practice on estate planning, probate, elder law and general small business law. Her experience includes nonprofit law, property law, tax law and health law.

Jill received her Bachelor of Science degree from Alma College, her Master of Science Degree from the University of Michigan, and her law degree, cum laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School where she was an honors student and served as Senior Associate Editor of the Law Review. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and has completed the Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s Probate and Estate Planning Certificate program.

Jill is a Medicare and Medicaid Assistance Program volunteer with the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan. She has twenty years experience as a healthcare risk manager, compliance officer and accreditation coordinator prior to attending law school. This experience gave her the ability to analyze client’s needs with state and federal regulations, and accreditation rules in health care, in addition to experience with a variety of legal and insurance issues in the healthcare arena. This experience included analyzing state and federal regulations and accreditation rules and applying them to real situations. She is a member of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan. She is also a member of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section of the State Bar of Michigan and an elected Counsel member of that section.

Born in Grand Rapids, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, gardening, downhill skiing, and various other outdoor activities. Jill has a daughter, a son-in-law and a grandchild in west Michigan, and a son in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
